Film plays an important role within the CHE community, and the Tales from Planet Earth film festival is one of our showcase events. Mark your calendars for the next festival, November 6-8, 2015!
Over the past six years, Tales from Planet Earth has screened more than 140 environmental films in the Madison area through a variety of events, including our 2007 festival, 2009 festival, 2012 festival, 2013 festival, community screenings, and our participation in the Wisconsin Film Festival. In choosing films, we have tried to expand the definition of environmental film to encompass movies that deal with the environment as the place where we live, work, and play and that examine how humans shape and are shaped by non-human nature.
The Tales Festivals are journeys across the globe, exploring how stories told through film shape our understanding of nature and inspire action on behalf of environmental justice and the diversity of life. All festival events are free and open to the public.
Surrounding Tales, students directed and produced environmental documentary films for the Environmental Filmmaking Workshop course.
