Video: Investigating the ecology of a deadly virus

June 6, 2013

In this video, Micah Hahn, a graduate of the Nelson Institute Environment and Resources program (Ph.D. ’13), discusses her research on the ecological factors impacting Nipah virus transmission in Bangladesh.

Nipah virus is transmitted from fruit bats to humans, but also through person-to-person contact. Hahn visited Bangladesh to study the habitat of fruit bats in villages that have experienced outbreaks and others that have not.
