Outstanding students rewarded

Twenty-seven continuing and incoming Nelson Institute students have won scholarships, fellowships, and other special awards for the coming year.  Congratulations to all.

UNDERGRADUATE AWARDS

Students enrolled in the institute's Environmental Studies Certificate Program received the following awards:

Harry S. Truman Scholarship: Julie Curti (geography/environmental studies)

Hilldale Undergraduate Research Fellowships: Julie Curti (Emily Hall, faculty sponsor, English) and Elizabeth Hunter (Stanley Dodson,faculty sponsor, zoology)

Holstrom Environmental Scholarship: Kaitlyn Flick (Samer Alatout, faculty sponsor, rural sociology/environmental studies)

Morris K. Udall Undergraduate Scholarship: Julie Curti (geography/environmental studies)

GRADUATE AWARDS

Students in the institute's graduate degree and certificate programs received the following awards:

Advanced Opportunity Fellowships: Amanda Cardenas (land resources) and Sue Vang (conservation biology and sustainable development)

Bunn Distinguished Graduate Fellowship: Jeannette LeBoyer (land resources/energy analysis and policy)

Cottam Distinguished Graduate Fellowship: Katie Songer (land resources)

Doris Duke Conservation Fellowships: Peter Boger, Leif Brottem, Ariana Hauck, Erin Heidtke LaFaive, Andrew Stuhl, and Katy Warner (all, land resources)

Fall Travel Awards: Genya Erling, Steven Hall, Puneet Kishor, Sarah Mittlefehldt, Jennifer Ross, and Andrew Stuhl (all, land resources); Leela Hazzah, Margaret Knight, and Blair Skinner (all, conservation biology and sustainable development); and Hongwei Zhu (environmental monitoring).
