Curriculum
Each TMP student must complete at least 17 credits of courses, as noted in the following categories, plus an internship.
(Specific course offerings may change over time. Consult the latest list of available courses approved for the TMP program.)
Prerequisite: One college-level course in statistics
Core Courses, 5 credits
- Envir St/Civ Engr 970 Colloquium in Transportation Management and Policy, 1 credit (two sessions of this course are required,
for a total of 2 credits)
- Envir St/Civ Engr 772 Practicum in Transportation Management and Policy, 3 credits
Internship
- A transportation-related internship equivalent to at least 120 hours. This requirement may be satisfied by volunteer, for-credit,
or paid work
Technology/Engineering, 3 credits
One of the following courses or an approved substitute:
- Civ Engr 370 Transportation Engineering (cannot be used to satisfy TMP curriculum if required for the student's undergraduate
degree), 3 credits
- Civ Engr 570 Environmental Impacts of Transportation Systems, 3 credits
- Civ Engr 571 Urban Transportation Planning, 3 credits
Economics, 3 credits
One of the following courses or an approved substitute:
- OIM 744/Econ 502 Economics of Transportation, 3 credits
- Tran P U/Econ 478 Urban Transport Economics, 3 credits
Policy/Management, 3 credits
One of the following courses or an approved substitute:
- Civ Engr/Pub Affr 694 Management of Civil Infrastructure Systems, 3 credits
- Urb R Pl/Envir St 843 Land Use Policy and Planning, 3 credits
Environmental, 3 credits
One of the following courses or an approved substitute:
- Urb R Pl/Civ Engr 839 Land Use, Transportation, and the Environment, 3 credits
- Envir St/Botany/Forest 461 Environmental Systems Concepts, 3 credits
- Envir St/Soil Sci 575 Assessment of Environmental Impact, 3 credits
Proposed course substitutions must be indicated on the student’s study plan and approved in advance by the TMP program chair.
