Environmental problems frequently involve legal issues whose resolution demands knowledge of law and the environment. The need for professionals with this blend of expertise is growing.

The Environmental Studies and Law Dual Degree Program enables students at UW-Madison to pursue an advanced degree in environmental studies and a law degree simultaneously by permitting them to count some of their courses and residence toward both degrees.

The program is offered jointly by the Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Possible Degree Combinations

Students in the dual degree program can earn a doctor of law degree (J.D.) from the Law School in combination with any of these master's and doctoral degrees offered by the Nelson Institute.
