District Land Program Manager, Wisconsin DNR

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is dedicated to preservation, protection, effective management, and maintenance of Wisconsin's natural resources. The first vacancy is located in the Northeast District, Green Bay. The second vacancy is located in the Northern District and the work station can be either Spooner or Rhinelander. The employment eligibility list created from this recruitment will be used to staff full-time vacancies which may occur throughout the state during the next twelve months. Job Duties:
The positions are responsible for directly managing the Lands and Facilities and Endangered Resources programs in the assigned District and integrating all of the District’s Land programs (Endangered Resources, Lands and Facilities, Parks and Recreation, and Wildlife Management), and integration with the Forestry and Water Divisions. (Note: the Lands and Facilities program includes: all Department land acquisition and related real estate activities; master planning for DNR properties; capital development planning, engineering and construction management for all DNR programs; and land management for wild rivers, flowages and fisheries properties,). Ensures the application of team management concepts, the consistent application and implementation of all Department policy for the Division of Land programs, and integration with other Department programs. Also ensures good working relationships with key external partners and customers and is responsible for assuring that Department performance and accomplishments are measured.

A highly qualified candidate for this position will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:


Applied natural resources and nature-based recreation management and protection.

Project Management.

Supervisory techniques

Program management in a natural resources organization.

Demonstrated leadership in natural resources and nature-based recreation.

Ability to develop good external relationships.
