Responsibilities


JOB SUMMARY

It is the responsibility of the Energy Manager to oversee the implementation of the client’s energy & sustainability program and to ensure that progress is being measured for each program element. In order to fulfill this responsibility, the Energy Manager has a dotted line reporting structure to the GES group and participates in regularly scheduled regional Chapter calls and training sessions. This close connectivity to GES leadership, industry peers and platform SMEs provides the Energy Manager with up to date best practices, tools and support in the implementation of their specific program. The organizational structure also ensures a level of consistency in each Energy Manager’s service delivery, including working with GES to identify and implement new technologies, identify cost synergies, budget utilities; coordinate energy procurement and energy-related projects

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage energy initiatives for all sites under management, including implementation of low-cost/no-cost checklist, O&M efficiencies, implementation of best practices and performance management to program plan.

Prepare monthly variance reports, energy service status reports and conduct monthly energy team meetings.

Develop site energy profiles through periodic energy audits, and assist with site surveys and energy plans at other accounts.

Work with GES to review utility rates and riders to ensure best cost for energy.

Develop strategies to purchase utilities in a deregulated marketplace.

Develop capital and/or performance financing strategies for energy-related projects.

Assist all sites with energy-related issues and in identifying energy savings projects, including formalizing scope, obtaining quotes, performing project savings analysis, obtaining project approval and working with GES to manage project implementation.

Monitor and report on energy use and spending trends, carbon emissions, project status, resource allocation and progress to program targets.

Supervise and provide direction for Energy Coordinator and coordinate with Sustainability Manager as applicable.

Communicate past, present and future energy plans and performance through formal presentations to client.

Perform other relevant duties as requested or assigned.

Develop projects that include formalizing scope, obtaining quotes, performing project savings analysis and obtaining project approval.

Manage project construction.

Assist with site surveys and energy plans at other accounts.

Supervise and provide direction for Energy Coordinator.

Communicate past, present and future energy plans and performance through formal presentations to client.

Perform other relevant duties as requested or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of Sales team support staff. Ensure team members have appropriate resources to deliver client services in timely, efficient manner. Provide input and recommendations for employee selection, training, and performance evaluation. Provide technical and/or professional advice to team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university and a minimum of four to six years of related experience and/or training

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation preferred.

Experience with Energy Star and LEED programs, certification preferred

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret various types of business documents. Ability to write reports, manuals in a pre-designed style and format. Ability to effectively respond to complex inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, supervisor, and/or management. Ability to present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees. Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
