- Gregg Mitman’s teaching and research interests span the history of ecology, nature, and health in American culture, and are informed by a commitment and hope to help build a more equitable and just environment. His most recent books include Breathing Space: How Allergies Shape our Lives and Landscapes (Yale, 2007) and Reel Nature: America’s Romance with Wildlife on Film, 2d ed. (University of Washington Press, 2009). He is currently producing a documentary film, In the Footsteps of Elephants, that takes viewers on an investigative journey into the shared struggle of people and elephants for physical and cultural survival.
