The Nelson Community

People are the heart and soul of the Nelson Institute.

Our faculty and staff include professors in more than 50 academic fields, from the humanities, engineering, business, and law to the biological, physical, health, and social sciences. They are widely respected for their scholarship and achievements.

(Are you a UW-Madison faculty member interested in joining the institute Please contact us.)

Our students boast equally diverse academic and experiential backgrounds. They bring inspiration, intellect, and strong personal commitment to the Nelson Institute.

Our alumni, numbering well over 3,000, are leaders and innovators throughout the United States and abroad.

Beyond the campus, we build professional partnerships with other like-minded people in government, business, the nonprofit sector, and academic institutions.

Together, we conduct a host of community programs that promote a more environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable world. We also support resources on and off campus that strengthen this community.
