Assistant Planner

Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc.


Job Summary:
Assistant Planner is responsible for providing technical and administrative assistance to the Directors of Landscape Architecture/Land Planning and Sustainable Services, approximately 2/3 and 1/3 time respectively. The job location is at Hoffman headquarters in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Land Planning/Landscape Architecture Support
1. Researches and compiles information, data, maps on a variety of planning issues from multiple sources
2. Prepares and presents detailed maps and reports on site analysis, due diligence and highest and best use
3. Provides technical assistance and information to internal staff on site development issues
4. Assists in the preparation of development proposals and site plans for conformance with state, county and local codes, plans, parking and other regulations
5. Assists in the preparation of site plans, narratives and applications for planned unit developments, rezonings, special use permits, annexations, variances and other proposals
6. Prepares exhibits and request for proposals for site due diligence studies including environmental, land survey, wetland delineation, geotechnical, and hazardous building material assessments
7. Solicits and manages the qualification of proposals for studies utilizing outside consultants
8. Attends public meetings, assisting other planning staff as appropriate
9. Develops and maintains master forms and electronic and hard copy files and records
10. Maintains database of consultants
11. Performs routine office tasks including data entry, file management and copying

Sustainability Support
1. Helps build a culture of sustainability within Hoffman
2. Provides ongoing support and management of Hoffman’s LEED accreditation program including exam preparation and tracking and maintenance of employee and corporate credentialing
3. Coordinates Hoffman’s employee training programs on sustainability including monthly topics at 4M meetings and online programs
4. Provides support on sustainable design, materials, and product options for Hoffman projects including windows and lighting to support daylighting and views
5. Provides support for on-site solar PV planning including financial performance at project sites
6. Provides support to Hoffman’s Director of Sustainable Services for Hoffman’s sustainable marketing initiative including articles, presentations, and conferences
7. Maintains database and annual agreements with sustainability consultants
8. Assists Hoffman’s Director of Sustainable Services in managing consultants including solar, LEED certification, energy modeling and commissioning, and HVAC and Controls
9. Assists Hoffman’s Director of Sustainable Services with process improvement initiatives of the interdepartmental "Green Team” and integration of sustainability measures in our Matrix tool
10. Maintains Hoffman’s building performance management tool, Hoffman Sustainable Performance (HSP
