Undergraduate Major Celebration

Giving to the Nelson Institute

Gifts are a crucial source of financial support for the Nelson Institute.

Your investment in the Nelson Institute enables us to support talented students through unique scholarships, fellowships, internships, and travel opportunities; attract and retain outstanding faculty members; launch new research initiatives; organize public events and programs that benefit the people of the state and beyond; keep alumni and friends informed of our latest achievements; and much more.

We invite you to help us meet the challenges of achieving a more sustainable world by supporting our interdisciplinary education, research, and public service. Contributions to the Nelson Institute are tax deductible.

Donate Online

You can contribute to the Nelson Institute online through the University of Wisconsin Foundation, the official fundraising organization for UW-Madison. Online donations are processed through a secure Web server.

Other Ways to Give

You can support the Nelson Institute through an outright or deferred gift and you can designate your gift for general purpose or for one or more specific purposes.

Outright gifts include cash gifts, corporate matching gifts, gifts of securities, and gifts of property. Deferred gifts are simply gifts made in the present and received by the UW Foundation in the future. Some deferred gifts are straightforward, such as a bequest in a will. Others are more complex, providing current tax benefits as well as life income for the donor and/or beneficiary.

Please visit the University of Wisconsin Foundation website for additional information on Nelson Institute development priorities. Your donation can be directed to provide need-based financial aid for undergraduates from traditionally underrepresented groups, to support outstanding students in the Nelson Institute’s graduate-level programs, to ensure the continuation of hands-on student workshops, to help the institute plan and maintain outreach programs, and more.
